Prop Making

Building movie quality props, items that can fool the camera and look like the real thing while, most of the time, being far from real calls for creative thinking and innovative ways of looking at materials.  When making a prop we frequently take available, and inexpensive, items and turn the into something that looks realistic to the camera, and beyond the camera to the human eye.

We were asked to produce a convincing “sawed off” shot gun for a very low budget film.  We found a toy gun, that was kind of a big water pistol/ Nerf-type toy.   We then made some additions and subtractions, did some work with putty and paint and came up with a pretty realistic looking substitute for the real thing. The client was thrilled and we here at Enlight are looking forward to seeing our work up there on the big screen.

The two pictures show the before and the finished “shot gun”.  Total cost of materials: under $30.
